::: Rogers & Dystonia- Bent But Not Broken:::

In the end of May, I was fortunate to be able to photograph Rogers Hartmann in the Studio for D Magazine. I have been documenting her on her journey with Dystonia for the past eight months-- going to doctors appointments, getting botox shots (in the neck) & getting ready to appear on Oprah... this is her story http://www.dmagazine.com/Home/2009/07/01/How_the_Disease_Dystonia_Bent_My_Body_But_Not_My_Spirit.aspx

::: FWY exit FRIDAY 2 :::

© Barbara Green 110 FWY exit Avenue 60, CA 5/09

Taken at about noon-ish on this lovely Friday, on an exit that
I had never taken before. Needless to say I took it slowly, after all
it's one of those famous very short exits found off the 110 FWY in between downtown LA and Pasadena.
notice the car hood in the front right foreground.

::: Valley Village 2 megapixels at a time :::

© Barbara Green One Way in Valley Village 2009

Sometimes you get a person... sometimes you get a water bottle. I was looking to start the work week with an early morning yoga class ... got on the freeway, took the "valley village" exit, and this is what greeted me. Grabbed the Minolta 2 megapixel cutie, and captured this.

Excited and hopeful I parked at the undisclosed Yoga Studio on Ventura Boulevard, which was "mysteriouly" empty... and not so hopeful, I walked - sans mat, to see if there was a class... and, yes indeed, the
door was locked, and the schedule sheet had a BIG ASS Sharpie X thru my 7am class.

GOOD MORNING!!

::: Bitchen @ the Bicycle Kitchen :::

I have been documenting "Bitchen" - an all ladies night at the non-profit Bicycle Kitchen in Los Angeles, and here are a few of the photos.

© BGreen - Diana Arterian "Cook"
A "Cook" is a volunteer at the Bicycle Kitchen that teaches the ladies how to fix their bikes.

© BGreen - Lanni Parshall
a little bit of Q&A...with Lanni
what was your first bike? My first bike was most likely around age 5, and it was pink and sparkly, and I cried when I was forced to take the training wheels off. Needless to say, I didn't learn to ride 2 wheeled bike until age 8.

favorite Bike memory?
Favorite bike memory was having to ride my cousin's old bike which had a broken seat. We basically wrapped ducttape around the frame and I just had to stand while we biked all around town. Very painful.

feelings about Bitchen @ the Bicycle Kitchen
The night you took our photos was my first time at Bicycle Kitchen and I really really enjoyed it! I loved the sense of community and I really learned alot, even in that short period of time. It was wonderful.

"Bitchen" is held every Monday night at the Bicycle Kitchen from 6:30 -9:30pm
